Flash graphic explains Middle East relations
The very nice thing about this graphic (apart from its relevant content) is that a person with very basic Flash authoring skills could create it in a very short amount of time. No ActionScript at all would be necessary, except a “gotoAndStop()” on each button. Low pain. High gain. Good call, Slate.com. (And thanks to Danny for the tip!)

i couldn’t agree more about the slate chart. the new york times tried to do something similar with a few large maps in its sunday week in review section, but it turned out messy and busy.
my favorite bit is the guy with the knife in his back icon.
