Hey Mindy, I'm surprised I hadn't known about your blog earlier. It's chockful of stuff I'm actually interested in, including social media, pedagogy and journalism. I'm subscribing to your feed right now! :D

Mindy,

Your site has become indispensable to me. I began reading it in late December 2006. Among my "discoveries," thanks to you, was Soundslides. My students at University Laboratory High School in Urbana, Ill., began using Soundslides in mid-January. By the end of May, they had published about 30 audio slideshows in The Online Gargoyle, our student news publication. Thanks!

In case anyone is interested, here is our site:
Gargoyle

Here is our multimedia section (only in existence, really, since January):
Gargoyle multimedia

Here is my favorite audio slideshow, published April 18 (a Uni High student of Palestinian origin describes what life is like in the occupied territories):
Dana's experiences in Palestine

Our school is out for the summer. When we come back in late August, I'm hoping we will be ready to try some ambitious Flash projects and video production. We have lots of other improvements in mind, too. We've only been online since February 2006. My students and I have been learning the ins and outs of convergence journalism together. It's been exhausting but a lot of fun. The truly exciting thing is that we've only scratched the surface of what's possible in this new media world. Thanks again.

David Porreca, journalism adviser, Uni High
