Good audio: Homeless in New Jersey
The New York Times produced this first-rate slideshow with audio:
Homeless in Suburban New Jersey
This is one of those great examples when hearing the subjects speak in their own voices makes a huge difference.
They used their own Flash template, not a Soundslides. Reported by Kareem Fahim. Photos by Tyler Hicks. Producer: Juliet Gorman.
Technorati tags: photojournalism | audio | slideshows | examples

Much better than that old formula.

February 27, 2007 at 5:07 amWhat makes this so good is that the audio is radio journalism
at its best - reporter’s voice for summarizing facts and subject(s)
voice for expressing emotions and feelings.
The audio could stand on its own but the images give us a richer experience by letting
us see and experience what we’re hearing.
And that’s what an audio slideshow should be.
