Teaching Online Journalism

Journalism heroes

Bryan Murley made a neat list of people young journalists can look up to. I would like to add these folks:

Farai Chideya tells great stories.

David Dunkley Gyimah mixes it up at viewmagazine.tv.

Jen Friedberg invented her own job in multimedia at a Texas newspaper.

Melissa Lyttle is the motivating force behind A Photo a Day.

Regina McCombs takes video journalism to new heights. She’s also a great trainer.

Naka Nathaniel is open to any reporting assignment, anywhere.

Jeff Ooi defies the repression of the press in Malaysia every single day. He’s been blogging his mind since 2000.

Ju-Don Marshall Roberts herds cats at washingtonpost.com. She was a Nieman Fellow in 2004.

Roland Soong opens a window into China for the world.

Ashley Wells has been responsible for innovative projects at MSNBC.com such as Discovery’s Liftoff and Rising from the Ruin since 2000.

That’s everyone I can think of at the moment.

Naka Nathaniel was one of my role models while I was in college (he’s a fellow Longhorn too!).

I know, Naka is a loyal UT grad! Jen and Melissa are both Gators.
