Case studies: Newspaper video

Having survived two weeks’ absence from my RSS feeds (vacation!), I have a lot of catching up to do. These three posts from Andy Dickinson are at the top of my list.

How the broadsheets use video:

  1. The Telegraph
  2. Financial Times
  3. The Guardian

Then there’s a New York Times feature from last Sunday. Let me entice you with a quotation:

Nadia said she wanted to major in English at college and someday hopes to be published. She does not see a problem with reading few books. “No one’s ever said you should read more books to get into college,” she said.

Yeah, that up-and-coming generation … Nadia is 15.

Last but not least, David Nolan is diarying his experience at the Platypus boot camp in Rockport, Maine. See his blog, Multimedia Evangelist, for updates. Platypus was possibly the earliest training venue for still photographers who wanted to learn video. Our college’s alum and good friend Tom Burton, photo editor at Orlando Sentinel, always speaks highly of his Platypus experience back in 1999.
