Notes from the classroom and observations about today’s practice of journalism online

How connected are you?

Do you know enough about Twitter and Friend Feed? Are you adequately socially networked?

Read Alf Hermida’s post about Scoble’s keynote talk at the Online News Association annual conference.

Scoble didn’t say anything I didn’t know (and there are many like me in this room), but at least he wasn’t like the Reuters guy at lunch yesterday — the Reuters guy asked us if we had heard of Web 2.0. He must have thought he was speaking at the E&P conference.

    Hi Mindy,
I’m a journalism grad student at DePaul University in Chicago right now and I love checking out your blog daily (Prof. Lauren Hertel told me about it).

I’m pretty well socially networked…I use Twitter and Facebook often. I’m also part of an interesting social/journalism online experiment right now called the Windy Citizen and I’d encourage you to check it out (www.windycitizen.com)…would love feedback too because we just finished a redesign and relaunched today.

Basically, the Windy Citizen is a hyperlocal online media network in Chicago, with links, reporting, blogs, etc. of all things Chicago. I’m an editorial producer for the site and also have a blog on it (http://hawkeycentral.windycitizen.com). Hope you can visit it soon and like I said, would love to hear feedback.

Keep up the great work with your blog.

    -Craig

Priceless! You could have blown his mind if you brought up Web3.0.
